This cactus is a wonderful way to bring interesting color to your garden and home landscape.
Being hardy to at least 20F, this is one of the few cacti I leave outside year ground. I built a raised bed with well draining soil that will allow the Santa Rita to be planted outside and not have to worry about over saturation from standing water.
I have noticed that to intensify the purple color, I decrease the amount of water given and increase the amount of direct sun.
These have some pretty nasty glochids— so I wouldn’t recommend this has a house plant— unless if it’s a house warming gift for your boss.
You will receive one pad that will either be rooted or unrooted. Plant it a good cactus soil mix and give it time— it’ll root and be marvelous.
